As a result of this tension, the hoses may develop cracks near the point where they are attached and will lead to loss of brake fluid and will cause sudden failure of the brake circuit on the front axle. The vehicle can still be decelerated with reduced braking power, as the brake circuit on the rear axle are fully functional. If the amount of brake fluid in the brake fluid reservoir drops below the minimum, the warning message “Brakes: stop vehicle and check brake fluid level” will appear on the instrument cluster.

If under-deformed rivet studs are used on the same latch striker, small gaps between the hood and front bumper may start to develop at high speeds (above 150 km/h), allowing air to enter. These gaps can potentially increase at high speeds, and over time, the stress can cause the latch system to fail, separating the hood latch striker from the hood. A separated hood latch striker may allow the hood to open abruptly, obstructing the driver's view and increasing the risk of a crash. It could also fully detach from the vehicle, creating a road hazard and increasing the safety-risk of a crash for following traffic.
