SIAM promotes road safety awareness among school students through 12th inter-school competition

Week-long competition to encourage safe and responsible road behaviour among students

New Delhi, 3rd November 2026: The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) today concluded the12th SAFE Mobility Inter-School Competition on road safety after a week-long series of online and offline activities. Organised at Gyan Mandir Public School, Naraina Vihar, New Delhi, the competition brought together students from schools across the city to showcase their understanding of road safety and responsible road behaviour. Organised as part of SIAM’s 'सुरक्षित यात्रा (SAFE JOURNEY)’ initiative with support from India Yamaha Motor’s CSR funds, the annual competition aims to nurture road safety awareness among young minds.

The annual SAFE Mobility inter-school competition offered students an opportunity to learn about road safety through creative activities. A total of 23 competitions  were conducted in online and offline modes spanning from Jingle Creation, Poetry Recitation, Traffic News Reporting, Street Play, Short Play, Vlog Making, Digital Story Designing, Design a Smart Traffic Management Model, Reel Making, Monologue, Poster Making, Qawwali, Roborace, among others.  These competition were aimed to provide a platform for students to engage with road safety concepts through experiential learning and creative expression. By encouraging participants to think critically about safe road use, traffic discipline and responsible mobility, the initiative seeks to develop young road safety ambassadors who can influence behaviours within their families and communities.

The competition saw participation from over 1200 students representing 46 schools. Students showcased their creativity and understanding of road safety through the competitions. A panel of academic experts evaluated the entries, recognising the students creativity, understanding and efforts.

On this occasion, Mr. Vinay Dhingra, Vice President, SAFE and Senior Director, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt. Ltd., said, “Knowing the rules is not enough, the real challenge is to make following them a habit. Doing the right thing when no one is watching is what true discipline means. I urge all students to become road safety ambassadors, follow traffic rules and encourage their parents, friends and family to do the same. Your generation has the potential to bring this change and help India become a benchmark in road safety and discipline. Be disciplined, be safe and, most importantly, be an example for others to follow.”

The initiative reflects SIAM’s effort to make road safety awareness an important part of learning among school students. The competition seeks to build a better understanding of road safety and inspire them to practise and promote responsible behaviour on roads by involving them in creative and interactive activities.
