International Conference on ‘Imperatives of Sustainable Mobility: Towards Vision India@2047

World Environment Day 2023 is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme, and held annually since 1973, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world. It is celebrated on the 5th of June to give an opportunity for awareness creation, informed actions, and responsible conduct to express care, support, and gratitude for Mother Earth. This year’s focus is on solutions to plastic pollution under the campaign #BeatPlasticPollution. It is time for #BeatPlasticPollution to accelerate this action, transition to a circular economy, and achieve sustainable development goals in 2030. Looking at the ongoing rapid transition across sustainable mobility, SIAM is working on multiple key initiatives of national importance to attain carbon neutrality by 2070 including India Vision 2047 through low carbon fuels and material circularity inter alia (i) ethanol blending achieving 20 percent by 2025 (ii) promotion of gaseous fuels like CNG, LNG etc, and (iii) circularity of material fostering circular economy to reduce pollution, GHG emissions and cut import dependence.
