The 3rd Automotive HR Conclave 2015 entitled ‘Make in India': Leveraging Human Capital’ is designed to inspire dialogue on the HR levers required to overcome the challenges that automotive organizations and leaders face in this arena.
The Indian automotive industry has come a long way in the last three decades. Today, India is the world's sixth largest producer of passenger vehicles' in addition to being the second largest two wheeler manufacturer, the second largest bus manufacturer, and the fourth largest Heavy Truck manufacturer.
The country's prominence in this sector is not limited to the domestic market as it is gaining more significance in the global strategies of many companies - be it OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) or component suppliers.
Apart from major Indian Industrial players, several global automakers are also present in the country today. This is a significance achievement for a country that until two decades ago was known as a closed market, ridden with limited supply, outdated models, high duties and taxes, along with a long waiting period.
