Society of India Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) is organizing an International Conference on IMDS and ELV Regulations’ on 18th March 2019 at Holiday Inn, Aero city, near Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, under the auspices of Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India in collaboration with Automobile Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA) with Product Compliance Consultancy Services (PCCS) & DXC Technology as knowledge partners. This conference will focus on having structured deliberations with the stakeholders particularly with the OEMs and auto component manufacturers. The Conference is first of its kind focusing on the sustainable material management and environmentally safe disposal of hazardous chemical, heavy metals, Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPS) etc. to minimize their adverse impact on the environment and human health. The subject matter attains critical importance since the use of such chemicals in automotive sector might work as technical barriers to trade in future.
The conference is expected to be attended by SIAM members, ACMA members, line ministries/departments, CPCB, ARAI, NEERI, SPCBs, DPCC, PCCS, DXC Technology including national and international experts and consultants from overseas. The deliberations in the conference would provide unique database/information hitherto inadequately available on the use and disposal of hazardous chemicals, POPs and heavy metals in the whole lifecycle of a vehicle. Such database could facilitate automotive sector, regulatory agencies, R&D institutions, Ministries for piloting the discussions and negotiations under the Rotterdam and Stockholm Conventions for which the nodal Ministry is the MoEF&CC.
The conference is focusing on the International Material Data System and End of life Vehicle Regulations which is gaining importance due to harmonization of technical regulations in the automotive sector. The non-compliance to these technical regulations/standards may impact its competitiveness in international trade. Keeping aforesaid in view, your participation in this conference is becoming crucial and hence we cordially invite you for participation to this conference along with your colleagues for keeping abreast with the latest advancements and also to equip you ahead of your competitors both in nationally and internationally.
