SIAM is the Apex National Body representing Indian Automobile Industry

Venue : Virtual Platform
Event Type :Seminars
Date : 30-Oct-2020   Time :1030 hrs – 1300 hrs

Society of India Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) had launched an environment lecture series on World Environment Day 2020 for integrating and mainstreaming the environmental imperatives for attaining sustainability in automotive sector. The first & second environment lecture series on the ‘Environmentally Sound Management of ELVs in India’ organized in August 2020, were highly acclaimed and an instant success. In continuation, SIAM has proposed to organize 3rd, 4th, and 5th lecture series on the highly relevant themes as given below:

(i)                 3rd Lecture series: ‘Indian Auto Industry’s BS-VI milestone: Experience & Learnings’ on 9th Oct 2020

(ii)               4th Lecture Series: ‘Global Experience on Vehicular Emission Norms’ on 16th Oct 2020

(iii)             5th Lecture Series: ‘Ambient Air Quality Improvement in Indian cities ' on 30th Oct 2020

Under the aforesaid thematic series, there will be specialized topics on which the subject experts will deliver their presentations highlighting various aspects of BS-VI emissions, challenges, and experiences of implementation in shortest possible time as compared to developed countries.

The objective of the environment lectures is to disseminate knowledge and technological experiences in challenges and learnings in progression from BS IV to VI in India to the stakeholders, particularly the automotive industry in minimizing the vehicular emissions that can compete with international benchmarks. All BS VI vehicles are technologically advanced in engine design and emission treatment technologies including cleaner fuels, fully compliant to the stricter emission norms. Henceforth, cleaner mobility with low carbon emissions will be the cornerstone of sustainable mobility.

What you stand to gain from the Environment lecture series:

Policies & regulations:

o Auto Fuel Policy & BS-VI emission regulations

o Fuel quality norms for gasoline and diesel

o Biofuel Policy, 2018 & SIAM White Paper on Alternative Fuels, 2019

Principles & concept:

o Principle of One country-one norms

        o Cleaner and sustainable mobility

        o Life-Cycle-Assessment

Design & Technology

o Engine Design- carburetted and multiple fuel injection system

        o Post-treatment technology

        o Clean fuel Technology

Pollution prevention & climate change:

o BS-VI compliant, hybrid and biofuel-based vehicles emit negligible emissions

o Electric Vehicles are zero emission vehicles

o Facilitate achieving emissions targets agreed in COP-21 at Paris in 2015
